Buff

The Buff is one of the most controversial colors of turkey that is known.  The 1880 APA, (American Poultry Association), standard of perfection required the bird to be solid buff.
In 1940, the Buff’s were taken out of the APA standards and turned over to the University of New Jersey.  The University crossed the Buff’s with the Bourbon Red, in an effort to stabilize the Buff’s color.  As a result, s the Buff’s now had white tails and white wings.  The Buff’s not only changed their appearance, they also received a new name, the New Jersey Buffs.
My goal is to get the buffs back to their original coloring.  I have already succeeded in getting the buff color back into the tail feathers.  It took me about two years to accomplish this.  My next challenge is to get the buff color also into the wings.
